Foundation Phase
LEARNING. FRIENDSHIP.FUN
Overview
The Foundation Phase shares the main campus of Al Falaah College, and its many outstanding facilities, together with the Pre-School, Intermediate Phase and High School. Learners are educated in a nurturing Islamic environment which aims to provide a holistic education in an environment of excellence.
Our Grade 1, 2 and 3 classes create the basis of learning by both laying a strong foundation in Mathematics and English, and by the development of critical thinking skills and creativity. Outdoor skills, developed both in sport and by the use of our playground, add a wonderful richness to children in our phase. Our focus is on extending and affirming a child’s curiosity, sense of inquiry and ability to make the correct choices. We are committed to supporting each child’s spiritual, social, emotional and intellectual development.
Our Islamically infused teaching methods are designed to inspire students to become intellectually inspired and achieve their potential within a stimulating and caring learning environment. In the Foundation Phase we aim to nurture strong Islamic values, self-confidence and effective communication skills.
Ethos
Our Islamic ethos ensures that learners develop strong Islamic Values. Our vision in the Foundation Phase is towards excellence in all our endeavours, and aims to nurture our boys and girls, whose actions will be guided by the Qur’an and the Sunnah.
Staff
We have a vibrant and caring staff that have an innate desire to educate and fascinate our learners. Through regular training, and our on-going professional development programme, we support both our new and experienced educators, ensuring the strategies, methods and resources used within our school set the standards of the best practices. Our empowered and passionate staff have been trained and continue to journey in implementing 21st Century skills using thinking tools and strategies in their teaching. Our caring teachers are committed towards the recognition and encouragement of each learner’s abilities and talents, challenging their critical thinking skills, problem solving and creativity and prepared for future challenges. Learners are encouraged to give off their best in all teaching and learning. Remedial support in the form of extra lessons in the afternoons is provided for learners who struggle in aspects of teaching and learning.
