Al Falaah College students, parents, and staff recently demonstrated the power of community action through the Women’s Month Hygiene Product Drive. Centred on providing essential items to young women in surrounding communities, the initiative saw the school body donate over 400 individual hygiene products, which were assembled into over 100 complete care packs.
The care packs were created to directly support students at Ihsan Girls in Chatsworth as well as Gingidlovu School as part of a collaborative outreach effort. The official handover took place on stage, where the team was warmly supported by Mrs Arun alongside Ammaarah from the Muslim Youth Movement (MYM).
Special recognition goes to the dedicated MYM ambassadors and student leaders who organised, managed and executed this entire initiative from start to finish: Faatimah Limbada, Zainab Khan, Salma Lahrie, Mutmaheenah Sabiu-Saheed and Muhammad Dhaler.
To anchor the drive in real-world purpose, the collection culminated in an impactful student-led assembly addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV), digital boundaries and social responsibility. Speakers connected the drive directly to core Islamic ethics, drawing on Surah Al-Isra to emphasise Karamah (sacred human dignity) and Adl (justice). By breaking down the Cycle of Violence and examining South African statistics, the presentation reminded learners that protecting human dignity requires both tangible charitable action and everyday accountability in our corridors and group chats.
Their collective effort and leadership demonstrated that real faith and character are expressed when young people step up to serve others and uphold dignity in their broader community.
